On November 24, 2022 the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) issued a news release announcing the publication of notices that recognize the New Self-Regulatory Organization of Canada (New SRO) and approve the new Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF), effective January 1, 2023.
The notice includes the interim rules for the New SRO which will replace current rules for MFDA and IIROC regulated dealers and advisors on January 1, 2023. The MFDA Rules remain in effect until December 31, 2022.
The interim rules, By-Law No. 1 of the New SRO, and FAQs for the interim rules and the New SRO Investor Advisory Panel can be found on the New Self Regulatory Organization of Canada website.
