Proficiency

CIRO’s new proficiency model for Approved Persons of investment dealers will take effect on January 1, 2026. The new model requires the successful completion of CIRO exams, based on the competencies required for roles when working at a CIRO-regulated firm. This is intended to provide candidates with flexibility in how to prepare for an exam.

The new model also includes education and experience requirements for some Investment Dealer approval categories, along with dealer training and CIRO mandated Conduct Training and Continuing Education.

Read the rules and guidance related to the new proficiency model.
